Vape Juice 101 – Types Of Vape Juice

From assorted flavors to varying nicotine strengths, there are a lot of choices to make when it comes to vape juice. Things can really get confusing but read on and we will make sense of it all. Just as there are different styles of vaping, there are different types of e-liquid. You need the right type of e-liquid for the right vaping experience.

What is Vape Juice

Vape juice, e-liquid, e-juice, they all refer to the same thing. Vape juice is the liquid that you fill into your electronic vaping device which is converted into vapor. Each vape juice is made up of four basic ingredients:

  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG)
  • Propylene Glycol (PG)
  • Flavor Concentrates
  • Nicotine

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) are federally approved as safe for consumption and they are substances you use on a daily basis. In vape juice, they are used as the base to carry all the other ingredients. If you buy an e-liquid, you will see something like 70VG/30PG. That tells you the percentage of the VG and PG in that vape juice mixture.

In terms of flavor, vape juice has them in abundance. There is an assortment of flavors in one e-liquid mixture, and there are some that contain just one flavor. DIYers have the opportunity to mix and match flavors as much as their creativity allows them.

When it comes to flavor, using the right ones will lead to an exciting vaping experience. DIY e-liquids made with high-quality flavor concentrates like those from Flavorah can be better than store-bought e-liquids. This is one of the reasons why you should be DIYing your own vape juice.

Nicotine is one ingredient you do not want to be laying around with. If you are not used to nicotine and you want to give it a try, make sure to start from low concentrations. In e-liquids, it is used in varying concentrations to help vapers, especially transitioning smokers to quit the nicotine habit.

To begin with, there are two types of vaping: standard vaping and sub-ohm vaping, and the way you inhale vapor depends on the type or style of vaping.

  • Standard vaping atomizers have a resistance of 1.0ohms or more. This type of vaping is best for Mouth-To-Lung (MTL) style which means you inhale the vapor into your mouth first, and then into your lungs.
  • Sub-ohm vaping atomizers have a resistance of less than 1.0ohms. Temperature control vaping and dripping use atomizers less than 1.0ohms. This type of vaping is best for Direct-To-Lung (DTL) style which means you inhale the vapor directly into your lungs.

If you will be buying commercially sold e-liquid or DIYing your own e-liquid recipes, you need to know this. Every e-liquid falls into one of these two categories.

Types of Vape Juice

With regard to the style of vaping, there are five types of e-liquid. This is influenced by the ratio of vegetable glycerin (VG) and propylene glycol (PG) in the e-liquid mixture.

  • Max VG Eliquid

Just like it is called, this type of e-juice is entirely composed of a VG base. Although it is not 100%VG after all, there is still a need for a percentage of PG to carry the flavor of the e-liquid. So in essence, they can have about 90% VG with 10% PG.

  • 80 VG/20 PG Eliquid

Sub-ohm vapers find this blend an absolute favorite. The amount of VG in the e-liquid lends it a thick nature. It is very close to a MAX VG blend just that there is more PG in this type of e-liquid.

  • 70 VG / 30 PG Eliquid

This is a very common type of e-liquid which works well with low-resistance atomizers with a resistance of around 0.5ohms to 0.9ohms. Cloud-chasing vapers absolutely love this type of e-liquid.

  1. 50 VG /50 PG Eliquid

A safe spot for vapers who want a bit of both world. This type of e-liquid gives you optimum performance, both in flavor and vapor. This type of e-liquid is a popular choice for pod vapers.

  1. 30 VG / 70 PG

This type of e-liquid is not as popular probably because people tend to be allergic to high concentrations of PG. Although, the flavor output of this type of e-liquid is mind-blowing.

If you already know the style of vaping you prefer, now you know what types of e-liquid will make the experience all the more stellar. Just in case you want to experiment with other styles, you now know the type of e-liquid to use.
